You can confirm the source yourself after the first day of delivery:
- Referrers: You open the referral report in your analytics tool and filter it by your campaign tag. Visits with a referrer should show publisher domains from the campaign report. Visits without a referrer appear as direct traffic, which is normal for some formats
- Location and device: You compare the cities and devices in your analytics with the targeting you set. A city campaign should show that city at the top of the list.
- A session sample: You open 10 to 20 individual sessions and check the arrival time, city, device and pages viewed.
If a check does not match, a short message to support speeds up the answer: "Campaign [name], started [date]. Please confirm the ad formats and publisher domains that delivered visits on [date]. Attached are 20 sessions that do not match my targeting."
This routine works because every real ad placement leaves traces in two places: the campaign report and your own analytics. When both sources tell the same story, you have evidence instead of a promise. When they differ, you find out after one day, not after the whole budget.
